Upgrading our Electronic Health Record System
In April 2016, Mass. Eye and Ear is upgrading its electronic health record system to help us better our serve patients. This new system is known as “Partners eCare” and it will help us better exchange information with other health care providers and improve our overall efficiency.
As a patient, you probably won’t notice many of the improvements that Partners eCare will bring, but here are some benefits you can expect to be in place by May 2016:
- A more robust patient portal: Partners Patient Gateway is Mass. Eye and Ear's preferred way to communicate with you. It lets you exchange non-urgent messages with your care team, view parts of your medical record, get lab test results, and more. Enroll today to start taking advantage of all the site has to offer.
- Online health questionnaires: Instead of filling out a pile of forms with details on your medications and medical history, our upgraded electronic health record will let you use online questionnaires at Partners Patient Gateway to track your medical history and enter your medications.
- A single patient record at Partners HealthCare locations: When you visit an affiliate or member of the Partners HealthCare network (such as a Partners hospital, physician practice, or Mass. Eye and Ear and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute), your doctors and other health care professionals will have access to a single medical record. This secure record will be accessible to all providers in the Partners network.
- A streamlined billing process: If you receive regular bills from Mass. Eye and Ear, you’ll now get a single summary of your care once a month instead of every two weeks.
Most of the Partners eCare upgrades at Mass. Eye and Ear will be completed this year. By 2017, the system will be used by every member and affiliate of the Partners HealthCare network, including hospitals, outpatient centers, physician practices, post-acute services, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
