The Mass. Eye and Ear/Mass General Department of Ophthalmology is ranked #4 in the nation (#1 in New England), a position it has held since the survey began in 1990. The ophthalmology ranking is based solely on a reputational survey of board-certified ophthalmologists around the country.

The Department of Otolaryngology at Mass. Eye and Ear/Mass General has been named #6 in the nation (#1 in New England). The otolaryngology ranking is based on many factors, including quality of care, patient safety and national reputation among board-certified otolaryngologists.

“We are honored that U.S. News & World Report has consistently recognized us as a top hospital for our specialties,” said John Fernandez, President of Mass. Eye and Ear. “I’m intensely proud of our staff, who are strongly committed to providing exceptional specialty care to our patients, advancing medicine through pioneering research and training the best and brightest in ophthalmology and otolaryngology.”

In 2009, Mass. Eye and Ear and Mass General announced that Mass. Eye and Ear physicians would lead and staff the Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at Mass General, which is why both hospitals are named in the ranking.
