Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery
Head and Neck Cancer Surgery
Located in Boston next to Massachusetts General Hospital, our internationally recognized head and neck cancer program focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of all types and stages of cancers in the throat, larynx (voice box), nose, sinuses, salivary glands, and mouth.
Our head and neck specialists offer the full breadth of surgical techniques and approaches for the removal of head and neck tumors. Under the direction of Derrick T. Lin, MD, FACS, we strive to continue to improve and refine our surgical techniques to make them less invasive and optimize our patients’ quality of life.
For some patients who undergo head and neck cancer surgery, it is common to need reconstructive surgery. Our surgeons are all fellowship trained in microvascular surgery, an advanced technique in which the surgeons use free tissue transfer to reconstruct the head and neck area. The quality of the reconstruction directly influences a patient’s function, appearance, and quality of life following surgery.
Most patients will require some type of follow-up or therapy to help with their recovery. Our office coordinates these services for you as well.
