Massachusetts Eye and Ear is proud of its success in translating basic research discoveries into cures for patients. Often, this translation can happen most efficiently in partnership with industry.
Faculty relationships with industry range from providing advice to owning equity and can include consulting arrangements, serving on scientific advisory boards, licensing patented inventions for commercialization, and conducting clinical trials of new drugs and devices with industry sponsorship.
Many of these partnerships have been integral to the development of new therapies, and we embrace and seek to expand this part of our search for better patient care.
The industry relationships of individual investigators are listed in their biographies. These activities are governed by explicit policies of the Mass. Eye and Ear and the Harvard Medical School, and are recorded and monitored carefully by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs and the Office of the General Counsel at Mass. Eye and Ear.
