Support groups at Mass. Eye and Ear give patients and their families the opportunity to talk to others who understand their situation. The goal of support groups is to provide informational and emotional support to help each other cope and better function with a particular disease.

Facial Paralysis Support Group

This is a forum for individuals with facial paralysis and those close to them to meet and share their experiences and to discuss:

Eye Thyroid (Graves' Disease) Support Group

For anyone living with a chronic condition or providing care for someone else, participation in a support group can offer many benefits. Massachusetts Eye and Ear is forming an Eye Thyroid (Graves’ Disease) Support Group, which will allow members to express their concerns about this chronic illness to help form a social connection with others and improve coping skills. The open forum gives members the opportunity to exchange information about Graves’ disease and gives physician speakers a chance to inform members of the latest treatments. Thyroid Cancer Survivors

The Thyroid Cancer Survivors Association Inc. is a support environment for people who have had thyroid cancer. There are regularly scheduled meetings, occasional workshops and resources.

Dates: Third Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Location: The Boston meeting is usually at Mass. General Hospital, next door to Mass. Eye and Ear.

Support for People With Oral and Head and Neck Cancer

The Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPONHC) Boston Chapter will be holding its support group meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in Room 4-930 of the Yawkey Building at Mass General Hospital.

The meeting will start with an open discussion by members of the group, followed by a presentation by MGH oncology nutritionist Julia Hincman-Francavilla, M.S., R.D., LDN, CSO. She will discuss how to handle food issues at holiday gatherings and nutrition during the holidays.
