Dr. Fortin is a member of the Neuro-ophthalmology Service who specializes in disorders affecting the optic pathways, the extraocular muscles, the neuro-muscular junction, and central nervous system conditions affecting vision.
Her research focuses on diseases affecting the optic nerve including optic neuritis, non arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and giant cell arteritis (GCA). She also has a research interests in diseases affecting the neuro-muscular junction and extraocular muscles and including myasthenia gravis and thyroid eye disease. These conditions have a significant impact in patient's visual functioning and quality of life and Dr. Fortin is working on improving their diagnosis and management.
