HVMA-MEE Thyroid and Parathyroid Endocrine Surgical Program
In 2015, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (HVMA) and Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE) physicians began a collaborative program to combine the surgical expertise in endocrinology and otolaryngology from both institutions to optimize care for HVMA patients.
Dr. Chia Haddad and Dr. Hien Tierney, both full-time physicians practicing at HVMA, perform thyroid and parathyroid endocrine surgical cases at Mass. Eye and Ear, where nerve monitoring technology and the expertise of physicians with subspecialty training in thyroid and parathyroid endocrine surgery are valuable resources.
Dr. Haddad and Dr. Tierney are also closely involved in conferences and academic presentations at Mass. Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School related to thyroid and parathyroid endocrine surgery to expand their research and academic opportunities in the field.
Dr. Jeremy Richmon is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Head and Neck Robotic Surgery at Mass. Eye and Ear/Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.

Jeremy D. Richmon, MD
Dr. Jeremy Richmon is an internationally recognized leader in head and neck robotic surgery and has been at the forefront of remote-access thyroid surgery in the United States including transoral approaches. While not all patients may be appropriate candidates for this technique, it affords the benefit of no visible scar on the neck. Together with Dr. Gregory Randolph, this approach is being further explored at Mass. Eye and Ear.
