Child's Blue Eye

The Center for Children and Curing Kids Fund

Mass. Eye and Ear has a long and distinguished track record of caring for kids, and our research has led to many important clinical advances in pediatric medicine, including:

  • Surgical treatment and proton beam irradiation for pediatric eye cancer
  • Restoration of sight using an artificial cornea
  • Hearing restoration via a cochlear implant and speech therapy
  • Airway reconstruction to enable breathing, swallowing and speech
  • Facial nerve reconstruction to overcome facial paralysis and restore the ability to smile

The Bold Science. Life Changing Cures. Campaign provides several giving opportunities to help us deliver optimal family-centered care and discover new cures.

We are seeking funds to add staff to our Child-Life Program. Our Child-Life Specialists help kids and families navigate the emotional challenges of managing an illness, injury or disorder. Using techniques like "medical play," our Child-Life Specialists are able to help kids express their fears and anxieties and better cope with their medical journey.

As a referral center, Mass. Eye and Ear's pediatric medical staff cares for some of the most serious and challenging cases. Simulation training is vital, as it helps our staff prepare for extraordinary demands. We are seeking funds to purchase new robotic simulation devices and support annual training drills.

A third giving opportunity is the Curing Kids Fund. This fund was launched at our annual Sense-ation! Gala and is used to support research seed grants, core research programs, compassionate care and endowment.

Finally, our Bold Science. Life Changing Cures. Campaign is seeking funding for Pediatric Endowment. Our goal is to ensure that our Pediatric Programs always remain strong and vital. Endowment funds add financial stability, as well as an annual revenue stream that can be used to help us help kids and families.

Please see our list of naming opportunities for more information about how you can participate in supporting research and care programs for children.
