Juan is a three-year-old boy who was born with CHAOS syndrome and developed a scar in his airway necessitating a tracheotomy to be placed. He has already had two airway reconstructions but he still cannot breathe on his own. We are going down to Ecuador to rebuild his airway, remove his tracheotomy, and allow him to breathe on his own.
Region of subglottic stenosis that will need airway reconstruction before Juan’s tracheotomy can be removed.
Juan, just prior to his airway reconstruction surgery, in the summer of 2012. He has done done well, and the hope is to remove his tracheotomy sometime this coming year
We took a look at Juan’s airway again this year, and because it looked excellent, we took out his tracheostomy tube. His excitement, along with that of his parents, was amazing to watch and heartwarming to experience!
