Oon Tian Tan, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Tan joined the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2010 after spending two decades in private practice. Dr. Tan brought with her a wealth of experience in dermatological conditions and treatments, in particular the use of lasers. In the 1980’s, Dr. Tan collaborated on a vascular-specific laser that targeted red blood cells, and in the 1990’s, she and her husband, Dr. Timothy J. Stafford, developed, in collaboration with industry, a laser to remove tattoos. Dr. Tan seeks to provide quality specialty care, and to continually improve that care through ground-breaking research and teaching.
Recently, Dr. Tan traveled with other surgeons and staff to work with under-served pediatric patients in Latin America. With funding from the Lynch Foundation, Dr. Tan was able to bring the first laser to a Quito, Ecuador hospital where Dr. Tan will continue her annual visits.
