Pigmented Lesions

Increased brown (melanin) pigmentation in the skin can be present at birth, or appear later in life (e.g. “moles” and “liver spots”). Because some lesions are potentially malignant, it is important that all pigmented lesions be examined by a dermatologist to exclude this possibility. However, some pigmented lesions can be removed using the laser.
