Information For Practitioners
The Facial Nerve Center is available as a resource for primary care physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists/head and neck surgeons, and oral/maxillofacial surgeons. We treat acute onset facial paralysis, either spontaneous or postoperative, as well as progressive and/or longstanding paralysis. We are available to provide both early and late management of facial weakness following any type of neurosurgical, skull base, or otologic procedure. Our favored approach is to work closely with the referring physician to develop an appropriate multidisciplinary plan. Physicians are welcome to contact the Center for direct discussions with the facial nerve team to help discern if a patient might benefit from a visit to the Center.
If you are referring a patient, we would appreciate any recent, relevant MRIs or CT Scans. If a patient’s paralysis was related to surgery, please send a copy of the operative notes for that procedure. In addition, please send along any other clinical information you feel might be helpful.
