Vision Care Optometry for Deaf People

Vision Care for the Deaf at Mass. Eye and Ear was founded in 1985 to provide specialized and accessible eye care to deaf people.  Dr. Andrew Baker, a deaf optometrist, has been leading this effort since the clinic first opened.

Dr. Baker earned his doctorate in Optometry at New England College of Optometry, specializing in eye care for hearing impaired people of all ages.  He worked under the auspices of his mentor, the late Dr. Joel Kraut, a pioneer in vision rehabilitation services, for eighteen years.  He has extensive knowledge of oculo-auditory syndromes.

Dr. Baker holds clinics twice per month on the first floor of Mass. Eye and Ear.  Appointments may be made through the Ophthalmology scheduling phone line: 617-573-3202.
