The Cornea and Refractive Surgery Services of Mass. Eye and Ear have New England’s most advanced diagnostics and digital-imaging technology. Our full-time team of skilled specialists accepts referrals from the general ophthalmic community. Results are immediately available on all procedures with interpretive reports available as needed.

- External Eye Photography--Captures external and surrounding structures of the eye to follow regression or progression of disease.
- Specular Microscopy--Provides endothelial cell count for evaluation prior to cataract surgery and for evaluation of Fuchs’ dystrophy; In addition to our standard specular microscope for endothelial cell analysis, we have the Confoscan 4 and HRT3 available for specular microscopy.
- Confocal microscopy (used to focus through the entire range of a human cornea – especially for positive diagnosis of Acanthamoeba and Fungal Keratitis.)
- Slitlamp Biomicrography--Isolates specific pathology of the cornea, iris and lens to document and track progression over time.
