Teaching and Research

The Medical Unit makes numerous contributions to the teaching activities of the Mass. Eye and Ear and of Harvard Medical School. The emphasis of the Unit's teaching program is on the medical care of the surgical patient. Members of the Medical Unit participate in formal teaching conferences with medical and nursing staff of the Infirmary. A great deal of teaching occurs in the setting of the medical consultation. A continuing education course on issues in Internal Medicine has been developed for practicing ophthalmologists.
