Many eye diseases affect primarily children. At Mass. Eye and Ear, pediatric eye disease research is focused on the risk factors and treatments for retinopathy of prematurity, a condition that can affect babies born preterm.

Pediatric Eye Disease Investigative Group (PEDIG)
We are a site eligible to participate in multicenter prospective randomized trials coordinated by Jaeb Health Center and funded by the National Eye Institute. IRB approval has been obtained for Amblyopia Treatment Study 11 in which patients will be recruited to determine the efficacy of patching vs. Atropine in the treatment of residual amblyopia in patients 3 to <8 years old.
