Intraocular Pressure Research

Elevation of intraocular pressure is an important risk factor for the development and progression of glaucoma.  Current research is directed at theidentification of the molecular events responsible for pressure elevation, with a goal of developing better methods to treat patients with high pressure.

Flow of aqueous humor through the eye.  In patients with glaucoma and elevated intraocular pressure the drainage of the fluid through the ocular angle is impaired and the pressure rises.
