Ganglion Cell Biology and Neuroprotection

Ganglion Cell Biology and Neuroprotection Research

In patients with glaucoma, destruction of retinal ganglion cells causes irreversible loss of vision. Current research programs are designed to determine the molecular events involved in retinal ganglion cell degeneration in glaucoma and also to develop methods to prevent ganglion cell loss (neuroprotection).
