Donita Garland, PhD
Research Associate
Dr. Donita Garland earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, Seattle. She did her postdoc studying mechanisms of metabolic and cellular regulation at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. Donna went on to work as a Research Chemist at the National Eye Institute, where she later became Chief of Protein Biochemistry, Laboratory of Mechanisms of Ocular Disease.
In 2007, she joined to the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania as a Senior Research Investigator studying the underlying pathology of an inherited macular degeneration.
Dr. Garland came to the Ocular Genomics Institute in 2011, where she continues her research investigating the pathology of inherited macular degenerations.
