Magdalena Staniszewska, Ph.D.
Senior Research Technologist
Dr. Magdalena Staniszewska received her M.S in Biotechnology Engineering from Wroclaw University of Technology in Wroclaw, Poland. She then obtained her Ph.D. in Biology/Immunochemistry from the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wroclaw.
Magdalena did her postdoctoral studies at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and Schepens Eye Research in Boston, MA, where she researched identifying targeted mechanisms and markers for ocular diseases, such as cataracts and retinal angiogenesis. Dr. Staniszewska has been awarded several fellowships, including Alcon Fight for Sight.
She joined the Ocular Genomics Institute in 2011, where she works on the development of therapeutic approaches to treat retinal degenerative diseases. Magdalena uses molecular biology, in vitro cell cultures and animal models to understand the role of genes in retinal degeneration. She also conducts research regarding novel methods of gene correction in the human cells.
