David A. Sullivan, M.S., Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Department of Ophthalmology
Dr. Sullivan discovered that sex and sex steroids are critical factors in the regulation of ocular surface tissues as well as in the pathogenesis of dry eye disease. His translational research has led to the development of potential therapies for lacrimal gland inflammation, meibomian gland dysfunction, and both aqueous-deficient and evaporative dry eye. Dr. Sullivan is also a Founder and recent President of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS; www.TearFilm.org), a non-profit organization that was created to advance the research, literacy, and educational aspects of the scientific field of the tear film and ocular surface throughout the world.
