Dr. Cruzat is a clinician scientist who specializes in corneal disease, and particularly in artificial corneas. Her research focuses on the development and improvement of outcomes of the Boston Keratoprosthesis (Boston KPro), specifically addressing biological problems in artificial corneas.She also is involved in the development of carriers for the Boston KPro and the study and treatment of melting disorders. Additionally, Dr. Cruzat performs clinical research studies and advanced corneal imaging for the diagnosis and management of ocular surface diseases. She has devoted much effort to public service and continues to work on projects to introduce a low-cost Boston KPro to the public hospital system in Chile.
