Training in Otolaryngology

The combined clinical and basic science faculties of the ENT department serve as teachers and mentors in a number of training programs:

Research Training includes the opportunity for graduate study and doctoral work in the laboratories of ENT investigators as part of the Program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology, as well as post-graduate training in a Research Fellowship

Research Fellowship: Research fellowships (unfunded) are available for study under the mentorship of Department investigators for not less than one year and not more than 5 years. Research fellows also receive an appointment in the Department of Otology and Laryngology at the Harvard Medical School. A J-1 visa will be issued, as applicable, after acceptance. Clinical Training opportunities include the Residency Training Program, several Clinical Fellowships and a Visiting Colleague Program

Residency Training in Otolaryngology (Harvard Medical School): The Harvard Otolaryngology Residency Program provides well-balanced, complete otolaryngology training at four clinical venues: The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, an ophthalmology and otolaryngology specialty hospital; the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, two general tertiary care hospitals; and Children’s Hospital Boston, a pediatrics specialty hospital.

Visiting Colleague Program: Physicians, either national or international, can spend one to three months observing in the operating room and clinical areas on all subspecialty services (General Otolaryngology, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, and Otology).
