Study Design
CATT is a Phase III multi-center, masked, randomized clinical trial.
Study Objective
To determine if it an investigational medication called Avastin works as well or better than an approved medication for neovascular AMD, called Lucentis. Additionally, the study will evaluate how often treatment needs to be given, every month or less often.
Who is Eligible
Patients with exudative (or wet) AMD
Subject Enrollment
This study is currently in follow-up. No new patients can be enrolled.
Study Procedures
Qualified participants were randomly assigned to receive Avastin or Lucentis on a monthly or “as needed” basis over a two-year period. Preliminary studies of Avastin suggest that it may help prevent the progression of neovascular AMD. Lucentis has been proven to prevent the progression of neovascular AMD in the majority of patients who receive it.
