Study Design |
There will be a screening visit to determine eligibility, followed by 1 or 2 visits to perform tasks on a computer screen. |
|
Study Objective |
Visually-impaired people’s ability to see can be affected by changes in luminance and contrast. These changes can help or hinder a person’s ability to perform everyday tasks. The goal of this study is to further examine how luminance and contrast can affect visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and our visual system’s response to blur. |
|
Who is Eligible |
Individuals diagnosed with AMD, having Visual Acuity between 20/70 and 20/200 |
|
Subject Enrollment |
We are currently enrolling individuals with AMD. Potential participants will be screened on their first visit to determine eligibility. |
|
Study Procedures |
If you agree to participate in this study and meet the selection criteria, you will be asked to complete a series of tasks on a computer screen, like reading letters of different sizes, and responding to brief video clips or images using response buttons. You will wear fitted goggles that reduce luminance. There will be two or three visits lasting no longer than 2.5 hours each. |
