Mass Eye and Ear Hosts 2nd Free Community Screening Event for Roxbury Tenants of Harvard

Boston, Mass. – Mass Eye and Ear hosted its 2^nd “Eye, Ear, Eat” – a free community health screening event for its neighbors in Mission Hill at Mass Eye and Ear’s 800 Huntington Ave location. The event is a community partnership with Roxbury Tenants of Harvard. Clinicians from Mass Eye and Ear offered free vision, hearing and head and neck screenings, access to financial counselors and education on health care delivery options. Over 200 residents attended and participated in screenings with some attendees identified for needing further care including hearing aids and other vision, hearing and head and neck issues that can impact their health and quality of life.

“For many in our community this may be their only chance to access these services and Mass Eye and Ear is proud to help bridge the gaps for underserved communities. In some cases, we were able to identify an issue and immediately get them scheduled for follow up and care. In our 200^th year, all of us at Mass Eye and Ear feel events like this carry out the mission from its founding to serve those in need and make their lives better,” said Gregory Randolph, MD, Director, Thyroid and Parathyroid Endocrine Surgical Division, Mass Eye and Ear.

The specialists at Mass Eye and Ear’s 800 Huntington Ave location provide routine and sub-specialty eye, ear, nose, throat, head and neck care in a state-of-the-art facility. The site is open Monday to Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm and has a state-of the-art surgical center, staffed by teams of Mass Eye and Ear surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses.
