Educational Objectives
a. To provide advanced post-residency clinical training in the management of diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses.
b. To provide surgical training in minimally invasive approaches to the paranasal sinuses, orbit, and skull base, including endoscopic primary and revision sinus surgery, advanced frontal sinus techniques, transnasal approaches to the orbit (orbital and optic nerve decompression, DCR), and endoscopic skull base procedures (CSF leak and encephalocele repair, tumor resection).
c. To provide opportunities to perform quality clinical, translational, and basic science research in the field of rhinology.

The Fellowship Director will meet with the Fellow at least twice yearly to assess progress.

Means by Which Fellows Will be Selected
Candidates will apply through the San Francisco Match Program. Rank list will be determined by a Selection Committee, led by the Fellowship Director. Rules of the match will be abided.
Research Time
Research will be strongly encouraged. One-half day a week (Thursday mornings) will be protected for research and educational activities.
Salary and Benefits
Salary will be no less than $50,000 per year. Fellowship expenses, including malpractice insurance and travel will be covered through MEEI funds under the direction of Ralph Metson, MD. Standard benefits for MEEI employees, including health insurance, will be available.
Allocation of Time
The Clinical Fellowship shall be full-time occupation. Fellows may be asked to supervise the MEEI Emergency Ward at the discretion of the Preceptor. Fellows will be required to assist in surgical cases, to round on inpatients, and staff appropriate consults.
