Residents in ophthalmology at Mass. Eye and Ear also have the opportunity to serve a clinic rotation at one of the Aravind Eye Hospitals. The Aravind Eye Care System of India is the world’s largest provider of eye care services and is committed to the prevention of needless vision loss, revolutionizing the concept of efficient and sustainable eye care across the developing world. Since 1988, over 100 HMS senior ophthalmology residents have participated in an elective rotation at Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India, gaining an unparalleled learning experience in international eye care, and the opportunity for hands-on clinical and surgical exposure to many ophthalmic conditions rarely encountered in the United States.
