The first meeting of the Boston Thyroid Club was successfully held in the Meltzer Auditorium at 6 to 8pm at Mass. Eye and Ear on June 19, 2013. Just over thirty physicians from the Boston area attended this 2 hour meeting, which consisted of an update on intraoperative nerve monitoring during thyroid surgery from Dr. Gregory Randolph followed by thyroid surgery case presentations with audience participation. A pizza dinner was provided by the Mass. Eye and Ear Division of Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery. In attendance were attending surgeons and residents from Mass. Eye and Ear in Boston, the Mass. Eye and Ear suburban centers, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, and Tufts Medical Center, as well as physicians from private practices in the greater Boston area. This meeting represents the first otolaryngology-based surgical thyroid meeting in the city's history.
