Support Groups
Support groups at Mass. Eye and Ear give patients and their families the opportunity to talk to others who understand their situation. The goal of support groups is to provide informational and emotional support to help each other cope and better function with a particular disease.
Boston Cured Cancer Club for Laryngectomees
This support group for Laryngectomees meets at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month, with the exception of January and February, in the Mass. Eye and Ear cafeteria, 7th floor, 243 Charles Street, Boston, MA 02114. For information, call 978-717-5657. Check out their new website.
Facial Paralysis Support Group
This is a forum for individuals with facial paralysis and those close to them to meet and share their experiences and to discuss:
- Support
- Treatment
- Coping
- Self Image
Time and Date: First Friday of the month at 5:30 p.m. (no meeting held in July)
Place: 9th floor waiting room for the Facial Nerve Center and Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Center, Mass. Eye and Ear in Boston.

Glaucoma Support Group
The New England Chapter of the Glaucoma Foundation is a free support group for people with glaucoma, their caregivers, professionals, and others dedicated to improving the lives of those with this disease. For more information, call 617-797-6476 or email The Glaucoma Foundation.
Eye Thyroid (Graves Disease) Support Group
For anyone living with a chronic condition or providing care for someone else, participation in a support group can offer many benefits. The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is forming an Eye Thyroid (Graves’ Disease) Support Group, which will allow members to express their concerns about this chronic illness to help form a social connection with others and improve coping skills. The open forum gives members the opportunity to exchange information about Graves’ disease and gives physician speakers a chance to inform members of the latest treatments. This program is free. Thyroid Cancer Survivors
The Thyroid Cancer Survivors Association Inc. is a support environment for people who have had thyroid cancer. There are regularly scheduled meetings, occasional workshops and resources.
Dates: Third Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Location: The Boston meeting is usually at Mass. General Hospital, next door to Mass. Eye and Ear.
