Special Medical Concerns
Diabetic Patient
Please do not take insulin injections or pills for diabetes at home on the day of surgery. A physician will evaluate you on your arrival to the hospital to determine how to best manage your diabetes on the day of surgery. Please check with your physician before taking diabetic medications the night before your surgery. If you are on an insulin pump, please contact your physician for further instructions.
Respiratory Patient
If you use any inhalers or breathing devices, please bring them with you on the day of surgery.
Cardiac Patient
If you have an implanted cardiac defibrillator or pacemaker, you must inform your surgeon and give him/her the information that is contained on your ICD or Pacemaker card.
Other
If you have any other health issues, please discuss with your surgeon and our Anesthesia Department.
