About Me
Dr. Yan Jiang is a full-time optometrist in Mass. Eye and Ear's Optometry and Contact Lens Service, with a particular interest in comprehensive eye care, ocular disease treatment, refraction, and contact lens fitting. She received her OD at the New England College of Optometry, where she received the William R. Baldwin Academic Award, and subsequently completed a research fellowship at Mass. Eye and Ear.
Dr. Jiang's research interests include retinal vasculature, retinoblastoma, molecular basis of strabismus, and the genetic underpinnings of glaucoma. In particular, she has investigated the roles of Thyroid Hormone Nuclear Receptor Beta 1 in the development of retinal vasculature and established cell lines from human retinoblastoma tumors to explore the pathogenesis of retinoblastoma. In addition, Dr. Jiang has studied the molecular basis of strabismus and addressed the polymorphisms in the ARIX and PHOX2B genes that correlate with congenital superior oblique muscle palsy.
