Biographical Profile:

As a member of Mass. Eye and Ear’s Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Consultation Service, Dr. Stacey Brauner practices comprehensive ophthalmology, specializing in the treatment of cataracts and medical glaucoma. Patients benefit from her expertise in incisional and laser surgery, which she provides in an outpatient setting, and have the option of being recruited for clinical studies. In the realm of clinical research, Dr. Brauner investigates risk factors related to glaucoma and clinical outcomes of cataract surgery.

Dr. Brauner attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School, followed by subspecialty training in glaucoma at Mass. Eye and Ear. She contributed to the development of the Mass. Eye and Ear Cataract Master™, a web-based computer simulation tool designed to teach the cognitive aspects of phacoemulsification cataract surgery to ophthalmologists, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Brauner is actively involved in the teaching and supervision of medical students and ophthalmology residents, both in clinic and in the operating room. The recipient of a departmental teaching commendation, Dr. Brauner also was selected as one of ten Mass. Eye and Ear faculty to mentor visiting professors from Shanghai Eye ENT Hospital who are developing the first state-sponsored ophthalmology residency program in China.
