Biographical Profile:

Dr. Whitman is a board certified neurologist with over 12 years of experience as a subspecialist in the diagnosis of dizziness and gait and balance disorders. After medical school at the University of Connecticut and a neurology residency at Boston City Hospital and Tufts, he completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in otoneurology at the University of California Los Angeles. Otoneurology encompasses diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the vestibular system and its connections in the brain, as well as other disorders related to balance. For 5 years, Dr. Whitman served on the full-time faculty for the University of California at Irvine, where he directed all of the education programs in the Department of Neurology. In addition to his subspecialty training and experience in otoneurology, Dr. Whitman has academic subspecialty experience in geriatric neurology and has worked as a general neurologist. This diverse background in general and geriatric neurology as well as otoneurology is helpful in sorting out the most likely causes of dizziness in an individual patient.
