Meet a Specialist: Michael Cohen, M.D.
As a member of the Pediatric Otolaryngology team, Michael Cohen, M.D., looks forward to taking on the challenges that come with diagnosing and treating the pediatric population. “Joining Mass. Eye and Ear was a great opportunity for me,” said Dr. Cohen. “I love working with children and their families to find solutions to their problems, and the world-class resources at Mass. Eye and Ear will enable me to do that.”
“A lot of people don’t know that Mass. Eye and Ear treats children,” states Dr. Cohen. “I want people to know that we have the experience, expertise and compassion to meet the needs of pediatric patients. Our team is ready to help achieve the best outcome possible for your child.”
Dr. Cohen’s clinical focus is pediatric otology, which includes the care of children with hearing loss, pediatric cochlear implantation, and management of chronic ear disease. He cares for children with a wide range of ear, nose, and throat problems such as recurrent ear infections, obstructive sleep apnea, recurrent tonsillitis, neck masses, and sinus disease.
A graduate of New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Cohen pursued his residency in Otolaryngology at Temple University Hospital. He completed research and clinical fellowships in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. He will be focusing his research on the effects of bilateral cochlear implants on balance, balance dysfunction in children with sensorineural hearing loss, efficacy of newborn hearing screening and a naturally-occurring canine model of Eustachian tube dysfunction.
