Ophthalmology
Comprehensive Ophthalmology & Cataract
Our primary eye care physicians provide a full spectrum of integrated patient care, from routine eye care and screenings for systemic diseases like diabetes, to the management of complex ophthalmic diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma.
Cornea
Our cornea specialists offer care to patients with corneal, eye surface and refractive disorders, and perform diagnostic testing and treatment of a wide variety of corneal conditions. We have developed programs to treat complicated cataracts, dry eye and corneal scarring caused by infection and corneal degenerations.
Glaucoma
We utilize the latest technology and resources to diagnose, treat and manage glaucoma disease. We are highly experienced in performing the latest surgical procedures, which offer patients shorter recovery times and a lowered risk of complications.
Inflammatory Eye Disease
We provide advanced diagnostic, surgical and therapeutic care to patients with inflammatory eye disease. Offering a unique combination of skills and expertise, our team is cross-trained in Mass. Eye and Ear’s retina and uveitis services.
Retina Service and Macular Degeneration
Our retina team diagnoses and treats virtually all eye diseases affecting the vitreous, macula and retina. We combine surgical and medical expertise with best-in-class technology and resources that target age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal degenerations and detachments, and other retinal conditions.
Eye Plastic Surgery
We perform a host of delicate aesthetic and reconstructive procedures in and around the eyes and face. Our expertise includes reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery, treatment of orbital tumors and inflammations (such as thyroid eye disease), treatment of watering eyes and tearing, and treatment for traumatic lacerations and fractures.
Refractive Surgery/Laser Vision Correction
Our Longwood clinicians provide expert refractive surgery evaluations. Procedures are performed at Mass. Eye and Ear’s main campus at 243 Charles Street in Boston and include photo-refractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK).
Optometry & Contact Lens
Our optometry team provides routine eye care, as well as prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses. With extensive knowledge of contact lens fitting methods, techniques, and the newest available lens modalities, our optometrists can expertly assess and prescribe contact lenses for many specialty uses, including: astigmatism, bifocal, color enhancement, dry eyes, color deficiency, prosthetic, post-surgical and post-trauma, and keratoconus and corneal irregularities.
Optical Shop
Our
full-service optical shop offers a comprehensive range of services, from routine fittings to filling prescriptions for highly specialized eyewear. Our highly trained, licensed and skilled opticians have extensive experience filling difficult or unusual prescriptions, and work closely with our clinician specialists.
Mass. Eye and Ear/Joslin Diabetes Center
Massachusetts Eye and Ear and the Joslin Diabetes Center /Beetham Eye Institute (BEI) have formed a clinical alliance to deliver highest-quality care to eye patients, especially those with or at-risk for diabetic-related eye complications. To learn more about this collaboration click here.

Upon arrival to Mass. Eye and Ear, Longwood, please go to the second floor (level A of the parking garage.) From the lobby, follow the signs for the Surgical Center.
If you have a fever or cold the day before scheduled surgery, please contact your surgeon’s office.

Take I-93 South to Exit 26 (MA-3 North) toward MA-28 South (Storrow Drive). Merge onto MA-3 North. Continue onto MA-28 South (signs for Storrow Drive West). Continue onto Storrow Drive West. Take the Kenmore Square/Fenway Exit on the left. Bear left at fork and follow signs for Fenway. Bear right towards Boylston Street Outbound. Take I-93 North to Exit 18 (Mass. Ave./Andrew Square). Follow signs for Melnea Cass Blvd. Continue on Melnea Cass Blvd. Take a left onto Tremont Street (Route 28 West). Turn right onto Ruggles Street. Turn left onto Huntington Avenue. Mass. Eye and Ear, Longwood will be on your left. Continue past the building and turn left onto Frawley Street. Parking garage will be on your left.
From Points West
Take I-90 East to Exit 18 (Brighton/Cambridge). Stay in right lane after toll. Beare right towards Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel. At traffic light, take right toward Downtown Boston, Storrow Drive. Follow Boylston Street Outbound through several sets of lights. At the intersection of Boylston Street, The Fenway, Park Drive, and Brookline Avenue, bear left onto Brookline Avenue. Take a left onto Francis Street. Take a right onto Huntington Avenue. Mass. Eye and Ear, Longwood will be on your left. Continue past the building and turn left onto Frawley Street. Parking garage will be on your left.
From Points East
Take Route 2 /Memorial Drive to Brookline/Kenmore Square exit. Bear right at the traffic turn left onto Route 2 East/Kenmore Square. Go through two sets of lights. Turn right onto Mountfort Street (becomes Park Drive). At the intersection of Boylston Street, The Fenway, Park Drive, and Brookline Avenue, bear left onto Brookline Avenue.
